Hope you are all enjoying a fun filled and relaxing summer! The days are certainly flying by... I am reaching out today to share information about an upcoming Capital Project Q & A Session for your consideration.

2023 Capital Project Update

The Honeoye Central School District is steadfast in its resolve to engage in continuous improvement and to secure optimal outcomes for all of our students. We want each and every Bulldog to have equitable access to learning, opportunity and life’s chances for success. To this end, HCS has identified four priority areas which have been, and will continue to be, the focus of ongoing work in the district. 

In the area of Fiscal Stewardship, short and long term facilities planning has been identified as an area of opportunity for the district. We take tremendous pride in our school facilities and recognize that the school district serves as a community hub.

As such, the district contracted with SWBR in 2021 to develop a Long-Range Master plan. This plan was developed by survey and focus groups from educators, collective information gathering from all staff and administrators, and community members input.  The plan lays out long-range priorities for instructional programs, capital maintenance and improvements.  

It is important for our community to proceed with program and capital improvements that benefit our students, parents and community members.  For this reason, the Honeoye School District is looking to proceed with a 2023 Capital Project and is seeking input from our constituents. The District has scheduled and will hold a Q & A session for the HCS community on August 23 at 6pm in the LGI (Large Group Instruction room).  The district's architect, Joe Kosoriek from SWBR, will present information about the proposed scope of work for the capital project and participants will have the opportunity to provide input. Once the District receives feedback on the capital project proposal, the district will put forth a project to the community based on the portions of the project which are supported by the community. 

With approval from SED, the District is proceeding with a schedule allowing a December 2023 referendum vote.  The anticipated schedule of the project is listed below:

1. December 2023:  Referendum

2. January 2024:  Design Start

3. September 2024:  SED Submission

4. February 2025:  Bid

5. May 2025:  Construction Start

6. September 2026:  Construction Completion
