Dear Parents and Community Members:
The Board of Education, administration and parents continue to be concerned about traffic on Route 20A and our childrenÕs safety. Recently the Board of Education met with Assemblyman Joe Errigo who contacted Mr. Kevin B. OÕBuckley, the Regional New York State Department of Transportation Director for Region Four.
Director OÕBuckley has determined that a speed limit of 25 mph is justified on Route 20A in front of the school from 7:00 am to 9:00 am and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on school days. Orders for the new speed zone are being processed for filing with the Secretary of State. Installation of signs will follow at that time.
Also, the crosswalk on Route 20A will be enhanced by the installation of a downward arrow panel to the existing warning assembly. The transportation department will also make the crosswalk more conspicuous by installing a ladder type crosswalk.
President Ralph Angelo has also requested information on the installation of a flashing beacon warning assembly to be located in the area of the crosswalk. Director OÕBuckley will be providing the school with the procedure needed to follow to obtain such a device.
The addition of these safety precautions on Route 20A will provide one more action the Board of Education has taken to help your sonÕs and daughterÕs travel to school safe.
Sincerely,
William Schofield Ralph Angelo
Superintendent of Honeoye President of the Board of Education
