The TRIFECTA
On Friday, Feb. 9th, Indoor Track had another BIG night of Accomplishments and Record-Breaking at Leagues! Alyssa, Daniel, and Henry- The Trifecta this year with breaking records!
From Coach Stewart, "We went to Nazareth College on Friday night for the Wayne Finger Lakes Division 1 and Division 2 Championships. 26 total schools. The kids did great. Highlights below if you can spread the word! It's very impressive to win at this level."
Danny Gawel broke the school record in the boys' 300-meter dash, beating HIS OWN record of 38.40 with a quick 38.32, placing 3rd overall. He also finished 4th overall in the boy's weight throw with a PR of 48 feet 10 inches.
Alyssa Bailey won the girls' pole vault with her personal best of 7 feet 9 inches. She also ran a PR in the 55-meter hurdles.
Henry Sherman also won the boy's weight throw on his last throw of 50 feet 1 inch. Henry also completed his night, placing in the TOP 8 of both long jump and triple jump!
Herculean Hennry is BACK AT IT!
Honeoye Athletics has its very own HERCULES!! Henry Sherman has done it again- breaking TWO different school records- TWICE in one day!
Yesterday at the Indoor Track & Field Invitational- Henry Sherman broke ANOTHER school record, his own, for the SECOND time in weeks!
Henry smashed his current weight throw record by over 6 feet. His previous record of 51 feet was crushed when he threw 57 feet 8.5 inches. This mark places him first in our sectional class by over 15 feet and 4th overall in all Section Five.
Herculean Henry ALSO shattered an 8-year-old record in the triple jump by almost a foot. #1 in our Sectional class by nearly three feet heading into the Divisional meet.
Coach Moran said it best-"What this kid is doing right now is special and unprecedented in our track program’s history."
Congratulations Henry!! Keep up your Herculean efforts!
Daniel Gawel
Not only is Henry breaking records, but Daniel Gawel also broke a school record yesterday at the Indoor Track & Field Invitational!
Danny Gawel broke Jake Thomas's 2018 300-meter run record of 38.95 with a 38.40 as he won his race. Congratulations Daniel.
Keep up the hard work! HCS is proud of you!
KING HENRY
Henry Sherman has done it again. Actually, he's done it for the first time in school history!
At the January 6th Indoor Track meet at Nazareth College, Henry Sherman broke an unprecedented three (3) HCS records. He started his day by setting a new mark in the 55 Dash by recording a time of 7.09 seconds. This tops the previous record held by Evan Miller of 7.12 seconds. Sherman went on to beat his weight throw record from just a couple of weeks ago by throwing an impressive 51'6.5", more than a foot better than his previous record. He ended the meet by breaking his brother's (Charlie Sherman - 2023) record in the long jump with his jump of 19'11.5".
Congratulations to Henry and the HCS Indoor Track Team! Keep up the excellent work.
Henry Sherman sets new HCS mark
Henry Sherman broke the boy's Weight Throw School Record last night (12-21-23) at Nazareth College. His first throw of 50 feet 1.25 inches beat the previous record established last year which was held by Ajay Merrick at 49 feet, 9 inches!
