In the Wake of Florida...

In an earlier communication to faculty and staff, I indicated you (the District} were on my mind. Frankly, like many of you, I simply could not find the words to express the heartache that comes with news of Parkland, Florida and those at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. The hurt they are experiencing is unfathomable following this horrific event. They are in our thoughts, prayers, and hearts.

While we have no answers or explanation for the senseless, we remind ourselves of our ongoing care within the Honeoye Community. We must continue to be steadfast in our support of our students, families, and each other. The relationships among all age levels in our community is cherished and valued, and should never be taken for granted. We are stronger together, which is a wonderful gift.

You have undoubtedly been a part of many conversations today that have kept those in this tragedy on the forefront. That is appropriate and respectful. It is also a sign of our continued vigilance and fierce dedication to our mission of children, value of community, and a priority to safety. Conversations are good, keep having them. Continue to explore ongoing and increasing ways to form relationships, support one another, uphold safety, and stay the course of commitment to our entire Honeoye community.

The people of Parkland are on my mind….as are you.
