Challenging Others to be Responsible, Active Learners |
|
Welcome to our new CORAL classroom website!
In 2002, the CORAL (Challenging Others to Be Responsible, Active Learners) Program at Honeoye Central School was started as a way to incorporate kinesthetic, vocational learning experiences as a compliment to functional, life-skills academics in a self-contained setting. The program was envisioned as a multi-grade model, consisting of a middle school (Gr. 6-8) and a high school component (Gr. 9-12). Academic and vocational curriculum in the middle school would involve preparatory and prerequisite skills related to the high school program. When appropriate, the two levels would engage in cooperative learning endeavors, particularly within the vocational piece. While academics are tied to the NYS Standards, the goal was and is to engage students through multi-modality learning experiences in a regular school setting.
