Welcome to Honeoye Elementary Library!
Where every day is library day!
Librarian: Miss Deal // Library Assistant: Mrs. Behil
The Honeoye Elementary Library is located in center of the Honeoye school. With that in mind, it can also be the heart of a learning community, as it serves the students, faculty, and administration. We hold approximately 15,500 materials - including books, videos, and magazines. Our library is automated with the Mandarin circulation system and an online public access catalog (OPAC). Available in the library are 10 Macintosh computers and a SMART Board. These internet accessible computers are used for research as well as for the library catalog. Our library is a instructional library which allows for students to work independently, in small groups, or in whole groups simultaneously.
PROGRAMS
Our service club called the Library Club, is open to students in the fifth grade. These students are chosen by teacher recommendation and per a student’s desire to be involved. Students come in after school. Time is spent learning more about why the library was created and organized the way it is, and completing various duties including shelving books and caring for shelves. Each student demonstrates responsibility and decision-making skills while learning about working together towards a common goal.
During the Fall and Spring, the Elementary Library hosts a Scholastic Book Fair. This allows us to encourage reading and provide families with the opportunity to purchase books for home libraries, as well as help build and support individual classroom collections and the library. Keep an eye out for fliers with added information as well as information on how you can volunteer your time to help make each Book Fair a success! Campbell's Labels for Education & Box Tops for Education is a program which allows students to earn money for the school library and many opportunities we offer. Students bring in Box Top labels or Campbell's UPC labels and each class amount is recorded. Funds from both help us celebrate reading during April's "Honeoye Reads" Month, both with author visits as well as t-shirts and promotional events. Additionally, this allows us to celebrate participation through providing those classes who bring in the most to have ice cream (one winner per grade level) or pizza (one winner) three times a year.
BoxTops for Education pays 10 cents per boxtop coupon. For a complete list of products that carry the BoxTop coupon visit: www.boxtops4education.com.Campbell's Labels for Education provides points based on the number of labels deposited. We redeem the points to earn FREE stuff for our school! For more information about this program and a list of participating products, visit the website at www.labelsforeducation.com. As a part of Rotary International's literacy theme, the Honeoye Lake Rotary Club encourages students in third through fifth grade to participate in a reading program entitled Rotary Reading Rally. Check out the new page for Honeoye Lake Rotary's files and information at our new page found on the sidebar or click here.

A huge THANK YOU! to those of you who continue to support the Honeoye Elementary Library. This includes, but is not limited to, Rotarians, parents, grandparents, students, faculty & staff, volunteers, and community members. Without the community of support we have, the library would not be what it is today!!
Join us in making this an unforgettable year!
