Library Policies & Procedures
Although students come in once a week, students are encouraged to visit the library on their own time as well to find new books. If your child forgets their library book for class, they are not limited to that time to return or renew books. The library is open for their use any other time during the week.
Library privileges per grade.
September - January: Grades K - 2: 1 book at a time Grades 3 - 5: 2 books at a time January - April: Grades K - 2: 1 book at a time Grade 3 - 4: 2 books at a time Grade 5: 3 books at a time
May - June: Grades K - 1: 1 book at a time Grade 2 - 4: 2 books at a time Grade 5: 3 books at a time
OVERDUE BOOKS: Students are not allowed to borrow books if they have overdue books.
LOST / DAMAGED BOOKS: Students are responsible for all books that they borrow. During the first few weeks of school, we discuss what it means to take care of library materials. One of the ways to do so is returning books on time so that others in our library community can enjoy them. With that in mind, if a book is lost or returned significantly damaged the student will need to pay for the book. The student will NOT be allowed to take out or borrow additional books until payment for the lost or damaged book has been made.
When the end of the school year approaches, there are a couple of important dates to mark down on the calendar regarding the return of library books.
May 28th: Last day to exchange or borrow books from the Library
June 4th: Last day to return ALL books to the Library
Please help us by encouraging your children to find their library books and return them by or before the dates above. Returning library books in a timely manner is important as it ensures all books are accounted for by the end of the school year.
Thank you for your help with this matter as well as your continued support of the Elementary Library!
