7th and 8th Grade Band
7th and 8th Grade Band
7th/8th grade band is:
An academic course where musicians are expected to become acquainted with the basic understandings of music vocabulary, theory, performance practices, history, literature and composers. This knowledge is gained through repertoire with hands-on experience through playing in lessons, rehearsals, and performances.
The act of playing and listening. Students will use learning techniques to improve the quality of performance on their given instruments, as well as learn to interpret and express the elements of music through their given instruments individually and in ensembles.
Rehearsals and performances that show the effort of each individual that create a unified sound that represents the band as a whole. This is a “team sport” where there is no success unless the entire band is contributing.
