AIS Math

Students are identified for math intervention based on their performance on the iReady benchmark tests administered in the fall, winter, and spring to all elementary students.  The students that are currently receiving math services from an AIS math provider are those who scored below grade level on this assessment, the NYS math test, or both.

When students are identified as needing intervention, they receive instruction to improve their skills in the areas where they struggled on the benchmark assessments.  Additionally, they work towards meeting the NYS standards in mathematics at their grade level.  Many times, students are pre-taught skills that will be coming up in the classroom to help boost the confidence of these struggling students.  Providers also work to help students learn the skills they are missing to be successful with grade level concepts.  There is an intervention program that goes along with our new Bridges Mathematics curriculum and will be used when possible and appropriate as we push-in to classrooms this year.
