AIS Reading

For reading intervention here in Honeoye, we use the Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) System as the basis of our instruction.  Students are identified as needing intervention through the administration of the Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) and iReady Reading Diagnostic three times a year (fall, winter, and spring).  Older students may also be identified through their performance on the NYS ELA test. If students are a year or more below grade level expectations, they receive intervention either from an AIS teacher that is working with their grade level in reading or a grade level classroom teacher.  Once the student shows that they are reaching grade level expectations, they may be dismissed from services.
