CORAL Program

In 2002, the CORAL (Challenging Others to Be Responsible, Active Learners) Program at Honeoye Central School was started as a way to incorporate kinesthetic, vocational learning experiences as a compliment to functional, life-skills academics in a self-contained setting.  The program is a multi-grade model,  consisting of a middle school (grade 6-8) and a high school component (Grade 9-12).  Academic and vocational curriculum in the middle school involves preparatory and prerequisite skills related to the high school program.  When appropriate, the two levels engage in cooperative learning endeavors, particularly within the vocational piece.  While academics are ties to the NYS standards, the goal is to engage students through multi-modality learning experiences in regular schools setting.
