5-12-2020 You're Invited: Internet Accessibility Survey

Internet Service

Due to the recent events surrounding school closures that were required due to COVID-19, HCS would like to gather accurate and updated information regarding our student's internet service and the ability that each student, family and/ or resident has or does not have to connect to the internet. Your response and participation in this survey is greatly appreciated, the information will help us better prepare in the future if we ever need to close school for an extended period of time. It will also assist us in advocating for resources needed to ensure all residents within the HCS boundaries have the ability to connect to high speed quality internet service at an affordable price. Please answer a few short questions at this link.

Families should plan on visiting HCS on one of the following two dates / times to collect personal belongings which may have been housed in desks or lockers:

  • Thursday, May 21 between 12:00 - 7:00
  • Friday, May 22 between 8:30 - 4:00

Building administrators are working with staff to “Bag and Tag” all items in classroom desks, student lockers, and PE lockers.
Bagged and tagged items will be available for pick up from the ES and HS Main Entrances on 5/21 and 5/22 (at times indicated above).
Our approach to distribution of personal items will resemble our approach to distribution of instructional materials / devices. Items will be organized alphabetically by grade level for quick collection. Note: Additional logistical information will be shared from Mrs. Klaehn and Mrs. Wright in the upcoming days.

Coming Soon: Parent Pick Up of Medications
Marybeth Tonkery will be communicating and coordinating directly with applicable families surrounding the pick up of any medications and/ or other health related items. It is anticipated that all medications will be scheduled for pick up on May 28th.
More information will be forthcoming from Marybeth Tonkery.

In Conjunction with Student Pick Up of Personal Belongings… Please Consider these Ideas
Throughout our global experience with COVID-19, HCS has strived to relate messaging of HOPE.

  1. In effort to memorialize our shared experience and UNITY during the extended closing due to COVID-19, both buildings would like to offer HCS students the opportunity to decorate (via any medium - paints, markers, etc) a rock which captures their message/symbol of HOPE and UNITY.
    • We hope to identify an appropriate, on campus location where rocks will be assembled as a “Rock Garden of Hope.”
    • As interested, please have your child bring their decorated rock (no larger than 4 x 4 x 4) to school on May 21 or May 22 when you pick up their personal belongings from HCS .
  2. To capture a glimmer of our shared experience and UNITY during the extended closing due to COVID-19, both buildings would like to invite HCS students to create a poster which captures their message of HOPE, UNITY and/or WE MISS YOU.
    • Posters will be placed in classroom windows (facing out) for all to see!
    • As interested, please have your child bring their decorated poster  to school on May 21 or May 22 when you pick up their personal belongings from HCS.
  3. If you have any questions about the “Rock Garden of Hope” or the posters, please reach out to either Margie Wright, ES Principal, or Addie Klaehn, Secondary Principal.

2020-21 Budget Presentations
As interested, please plan on joining me and our Business Official, Mike Bastian, during one of two Budget Presentations scheduled for the HCS community on the following dates / times:

  • Tuesday, May 19: 6:00 - 7:00 Google Meeting invite info to be shared Monday, 5/18 via email.
  • Thursday, May 21: 4:00 - 5:00 Google Meeting invite info to be shared Monday, 5/18 via email.

Thank you for your partnership in delivery of distance learning during the extended closing due to COVID-19!  “We got this,” and we will reach the other side of COVID-19. Thank you for all that you have done and for all that you will continue to do.  Hold on to hope.

Warmest regards to you and yours,
Bridget Ashton
