First Day of School Update

Dear Honeoye Central School District Community:

Good Morning!  I could not be more thrilled to have welcomed our Honeoye Bulldogs back to school today.  We were greeted this morning by our Class of 2021 students in the customary Senior Parade, which afforded positive energy, laughter, cheering, and excitement about the promise of all to come this school year. Thank you to all of our Class of 2021 students, their families, and to Deputy Potter for ensuring a safe execution of the parade and for your commitment to the continuance of this longstanding tradition.

Arrival of our students may have looked somewhat different today than it has in the past.  We greeted our elementary students and our secondary Cohort 1 "in person" learners back this morning with social distancing and thermal scanning upon entry.  Given that our entry included significant student smiles and no "hiccups" with the process (other than timeliness), we could not be more pleased with our first arrival of students on campus.

A few updates this morning:

  • Our Instructional Technology Director, Nicki Klingensmith, pushed out the registration information for Parent Square (Daily Health Screening platform) on Tuesday, 9/8.  If you have not yet had the opportunity to register, please visit the Parent Square COVID Screening link in this email or on our website at your soonest convenience.  If you have questions about Parent Square, do not hesitate to reach out directly to Nicki Klingensmith at [email protected]. Thank you for your patience regarding the coordination of Parent Square at HCS in these final days leading up to our reopening.
  • In the event that you do not have a thermometer and have had difficulty obtaining one, please reach out to Marybeth Tonkery at [email protected], as she may likely access a thermometer for you through public health.
  • The HCS leadership team will be meeting at the conclusion of our day today to discuss execution of our protocols, to identify areas of concern and to develop corrective actions as necessary. We will communicate any updates in practice or protocol with the community.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and unwavering support of our district. As always, if you have any questions about the information in this email, or otherwise, please feel free to reach out to me.

Warmest Regards,
E. Bridget Ashton
