Tentative HCS ES Principal Search Timeline

October 19, 2020

Dear HCS Family,

I hope that you all had a great weekend.  The fall foliage is certainly spectacular right now!

I am reaching out with two important updates this morning surrounding our Continuity of Instruction Plan in the event of a short term closure and the tentative timeline for our Elementary Principal vacancy search.

Continuity of Instruction During Short Term Closure(s)Plan
COVID CLOSURE WORK ENVELOPES will be sent home with all of our elementary students today, 10/19, as outlined in our Continuity of Instruction During Short Term Closure(s) Plan. This plan was shared with the community last week and was developed in collaboration with our PreK-12 teaching staff. The plan articulates the steps we will take in the event of a sudden closure due to DOH guidance surrounding confirmed COVID-19 cases and/or contact tracing. Note: We have NO INDICATION that we will need to move to a model of 100% remote learning, we are simply being proactive in the articulation of a plan should we need to do so.  It is our sincerest hope that we do not NEED to execute a Short Term Closure, but we prefer to take a proactive approach to ensure our continuity of instruction and operations.

HCS Elementary Principal Search Anticipated Timeline
When it comes to school related factors influencing academic achievement, research suggests that the role of the principal is exceeded only by the quality of teachers working directly with students. With this in mind, we will be conducting a thorough search for the next Honeoye Central School District Elementary Principal.

To help guide our hiring process, we will be putting together a leadership profile for our next Elementary Principal.  I hope that families and community members will consider taking this brief survey to share the qualities/leadership attributes believed are most important for the position and for a “leadership fit” at HCS.

In addition, if you are an HCS elementary parent/guardian and interested in serving on a stakeholder hiring committee, please send me a quick email (bridget.ashton@honeoye.org) at some point before October 30. To participate in this process, you would need to be able to attend a question-writing session which will be scheduled some time during the period of November 9 - November 11 and commit to interviewing candidates on November 23 - 24. (More detailed information will be provided once the committees have been identified.)

Thank you for your support, and for taking the time to provide input in the hiring of our next Elementary Principal at Honeoye Central School District.
