January Regents Cancelled and HCS Town Halls Scheduled

Greetings, Honeoye Central School District!

Happy Friday!  This morning is spectacular… blue skies, sunshine and lingering fall foliage as the backdrop to the POUND.  Teaching and learning are omnipresent inside the walls of the HCS campus. It is a GOOD DAY, and there is promise of warm temperatures all weekend.  I hope that you are able to relax over the next few days and enjoy a sliver of the beauty inherent of our region.

I have just a couple updates for you this morning:

January Regents Examinations
The New York State Education Department is cancelling the January 2021 administration of the NYS High School Regents Examination Program in response to the ongoing impact of the COVID–19 pandemic. At this juncture, a determination about the JUNE 2021 REGENTS administration has not been made.

Town Halls Scheduled
Back in September, HCS offered Town Hall Meetings with the explicit purpose of checking in with our families and students to ascertain how things were going within our mixed hybrid model of reopening. At that time, it was decided we would offer additional opportunities for families to participate in Town Hall meetings after the first marking period. Difficult to imagine, but we have reached the end of the first marking period!  As such, HCS invites you to consider participation in Town Halls on the following dates and times below:
  • 11/12 4:30 - 5:30 ~ Progress Monitoring the HCS Plan: How are things going at secondary level? Google Meet information sent via ParentSquare to families.
  • 11/12 5:30 - 6:30 ~ Progress Monitoring the HCS Plan: How are things going at elementary level? Google Meet information sent via ParentSquare to families.
Note: We will record these Town Hall meetings and link to the website or another platform (to be determined).

Reminder:  Free Breakfast & Lunch Meals Extended Through June 25 ~Submitted by Mike Bastian
We are pleased to announce that the U.S. Federal Government and the NY State Department of Child Nutrition have extended the option for NY State public schools to provide free breakfast and lunch meals to all enrolled students through the end of the 20-21 school year!  Both the NY State and Federal Government reimbursable meal programs have extended their pledge to provide free meals to all students who attend schools like Honeoye that participated in the Summer Food Service Program during the summer of 2020.

As a result, we are pleased to announce that all HCS students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch meals.  This is true for students attending school in person every day (grades PK-5), students in school every other day (grades 6-12 hybrid cohort model) and those students learning remotely from home 100% of the time.   While many students have begun to accept these meals, we want to be sure that families are aware of this opportunity.  We would like to see a majority of our students make the most of this offering.

If you haven’t already done so, please click here to access and complete a GoogleForm to indicate your interest in free daily meals for your child.  Answer all questions completely to help us process your request in a timely manner.  Your support in helping us plan for increased meal production is greatly appreciated.

Reminder: Free Student Meals Available for Nov & Dec Recesses ~Submitted by Mike Bastian
