Update on Athletics

Good Morning,

I hope this communication finds you all well and enjoying the spectacular weather!

I am reaching out to relate an update specific to athletics at the POUND.  As outlined in our reopening plan, the provisions specific to athletics and extracurricular activities outlined are fluid and will change as necessary based on community transmission and / or updated guidance from NYSPHSAA, the state, CDC, NYSDOH, NYSED and/or Ontario County.

As such, effective immediately and in accordance with the Commissioner's Determination issued pursuant to 10 NYCRR 2.60, masks must be worn by all athletes, coaches, officials and spectators at all indoor events. There is no longer language that references “as tolerated” during play for our athletes.  This shift is in accordance with the Commissioner's Determination issued pursuant to 10 NYCRR 2.60, and with guidance from Section V, stating that any person over the age of 2 (including all students, personnel, teachers, administrators, contractors, and visitors) must wear masks at all times indoors in P-12 school buildings, regardless of vaccination status.   Our athletic Director, Lorri Campbell, will be ensuring that this information is communicated and adhered to by all HCS coaches, and for all teams. The HCS Reopening Plan has been amended and posted on the HCS website.

Thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we continue to navigate the COVID pandemic in the school setting.  As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns about the information included in this communication, or otherwise.

Warmest regards,
E. Bridget Ashton
