Q1 Town Hall Meetings Scheduled and an Additional Opportunity to Meet...

Good Afternoon,

Hope you are having a wonderful Tuesday!  Started the day with some sun and blue skies here at the POUND, but have shifted suddenly to rain... On the brighter note, it is anticipated that we will have a beautiful day on Saturday for our XC athletics competing in the 2021 Section V XC Championships at Letchworth State Park!

I am reaching out this afternoon to share information about upcoming Town Hall meetings and an additional opportunity to meet with district leadership.

Save the Date! Town Halls Scheduled for Thursday, 11/18/2021
Given the impact of COVID-19 on our organization and the community we serve, we launched quarterly Town Hall Meetings last year as a means by which to engage in two way dialogue with our community.  Given the positive response we received from our families and the inherent benefit(s) of obtaining community feedback, this is a practice that the district has opted and committed to continuance in 2021-22. As such, members of our COVID-19 Safety Coordination Team (instructional leadership) will be available to provide updates from respective areas and to respond to questions from families and students during voluntary, virtual Town Hall Meetings scheduled for Thursday, November 18.
  • The virtual Elementary Town Hall is scheduled on 11/18 from 6:00 - 7:00.
    • Google Meet link will be shared with families via Parent Square on or around 11/15.
  • The virtual Secondary Town Hall is scheduled on 11/18 from 7:00 - 8:00.
    • Google Meet link will be shared with families via Parent Square on or around 11/15.
Please note that the structure for our time together during the ES and Secondary Town Hall meetings will be as follows:
  • Welcome and District Level Updates: Superintendent
  • Continuity of Operations: Mike Bastian
  • News from Pupil Personnel Services: Tina Bush
  • Greetings from the Technology Department: Chris Wickham
  • Building Specific Updates: Natalie Pfluke @ Elementary Town Hall and Addie Klaehn @Secondary Town Hall
  • Question and Answer Segment
For Your Consideration: A Path Forward, Strategic Planning at HCS
At HCS, we are steadfast in our resolve to continue to get better and to secure optimal outcomes for all of our students. We want each and every Bulldog to have equal access to learning, opportunity, and life's chances for success. To guide our efforts, the district engages in a continuous improvement process which involves:
  • Anchoring in to district mission and vision,
  • Analysis of current programming and practice,
  • Identification of areas of opportunity which better align practice with vision,
  • Development and implementation of actionable items, and
  • Monitoring impact of action items.
I had the opportunity to meet on several occasions with multiple and varied stakeholders last spring to obtain invaluable insights and perspective surrounding our path forward as a district.  Many thanks to the faculty, staff members, parents, students and administration who participated and contributed to the development of priority areas and action items.  As a result of this work, we have identified four priority areas which will be the focus of our work in 2021-22 (and beyond):
  1. High levels of student achievement and engagement
  2. Safe and supportive learning environment
  3. Community partnership
  4. Fiscal stewardship
We may still be navigating the landscape of COVID-19, but the district is also vigorously engaging in "the work" of our mission and vision with intentionality. To this end, the district will be hosting a series of community forums in December to review, ponder, discuss and respond to the actionable items identified and linked to our priority areas. At this time, I invite you to consider participation in one (or more) of the upcoming community forums in December. Interested families and students may register using link shared via ParentSquare by Monday, November 22.  Participants will be provided additional meeting information following compilation of registration information.

On behalf of the Honeoye Central School District, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in advocacy for all HCS students. There is no place like Honeoye...  As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns about the information included in this communication, or otherwise.

Warmest regards,
E. Bridget Ashton
