Notice is hereby given that the annual inspection for 2023-24 of all Honeoye Central School District buildings for fire hazards which might endanger the lives of students, teachers, employees therein, has been completed and the report thereof is available at the District Office of the Honeoye Central School District for inspection by all interested persons.
AHERA Notification October 2023

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) requires that each year, Honeoye School District workers and building occupants receive notification of asbestos removal or abatement activities such as a response action or inspection (EPA 40 CFR § 763 Subpart E).

This communication serves to inform all parents, legal guardians, teachers, administrators and all other employees that the six-month periodic surveillance of asbestos at all buildings as required by AHERA was performed in October 2023. The three-year re-inspection, also required by law, was performed in November, 2022 by a fully accredited Asbestos Inspector from the Genesee Valley Educational Partnership Health, Safety and Risk Management Office. All asbestos-containing materials that remain are in good condition and are located in primarily in inaccessible areas. The next three-year re-inspection will be due in November 2025. Updated asbestos management plans for each school building are available for review in the Buildings & Grounds Office and the main office of each building.

Each building will continue to have a six-month periodic surveillance and a three-year re-inspect as required by AHERA. All abatement projects have been and will continue to be performed by New York State and EPA approved asbestos abatement contractors. No asbestos abatement projects (or the following abatement projects) are currently scheduled for the 2023-2024 school year.

Any questions regarding asbestos removal projects or any asbestos related issues should be addressed to Michael Kestler, Director of Facilities at (585) 229-4176.
