Good evening, HCS community,
It's almost time to see our playground come to life! We are so excited to begin this incredible community project and are grateful to everyone who is helping make it happen.
Still want to volunteer? There is still time to join us! If you are interested in volunteering, please respond to this post with your name and the day(s)/time(s) you are available, and we will get you added to the schedule. We will also welcome walk-in volunteers each day from 8:00 am-8:00 pm. If you know someone who would like to help, please spread the word and share this sign-up form.
There is a lot of important and safety-critical information below, so please take a few minutes to read this email in its entirety so you know what to expect when you arrive.
- Tools: Tools will be provided. If you have tools you prefer to use, you are welcome to bring them as well.
- What to Wear: The build site is an active construction site. Please wear sneakers or work boots only- no sandals, flip-flops, or open-toed shoes. Please also avoid clothing with loose strings (such as sweatshirt strings) and bring a hair tie to secure long hair, if needed. Dress comfortably and be prepared to work!
- Weather: We are hoping for great weather, but the build will take place rain or shine, so please come prepared for the conditions. Check the forecast and dress accordingly- layers, rain gear, sunscreen, and a hat may all come in handy depending on the day. In the event of thunder or lightning, please check your email and/or HCS social media for updates.

Important Locations: Important locations are listed on this map. Here are a few highlights:
- Parking: Please park in the Elementary Parking Lot off of Main Street, adjacent to the bus loop. Please do not park in the bus loop or drop-off loop, as they are being used for our Summer Meals Program and construction staging. The parking lot closest to the playground is CLOSED, except to crew leaders.
- Sign-In: When you arrive, follow the sidewalk toward the construction site and sign in at the volunteer tent. You will be required to sign a waiver one time during the build and will need to sign in and agree to the construction-site precautions each day.
- Accessing the Build Site: Once you are signed in, please wait until a runner can bring you to your crew leader for the day, who will get you set up with a task. Please do not enter the construction site without a runner, Play by Design staff member, community coordinator, or crew leader.
- Food: Meals will be provided for all volunteers and have been generously sponsored by our community, including several local businesses. Continental breakfast will be available outside beginning at 7:30 am. Lunch will be served at 12:00 in the cafeteria, and dinner will be served at 4:30 in the cafeteria. Feel free to arrive a little early or stay after your shift to enjoy a meal!
- Water: A hydration station with bottled water will be available. If you would like to bring your own water bottle, filling stations are available inside the school.
- Bathrooms: Restrooms will be available inside the building, in addition to portable toilets outside.
