Chain of Contact

Posted Date: 9/15/25 (11:29 AM)

Dear Families,

As we work together to support our students, clear communication is essential. To help ensure that your questions and concerns are addressed as quickly and effectively as possible, we kindly ask that you follow the district’s Chain of Contact

This process helps connect you directly with the person most familiar with your child’s situation. In many cases, concerns can be resolved quickly at the classroom or building level. If further assistance is needed, the contact chain outlines the next steps and who to reach out to.

The same applies to athletics and extracurricular activities. Coaches and club advisors are the first point of contact for questions or concerns related to practices, games, or team/club matters. If additional support is needed, the Athletic Director and then the building administrator can help.

We have included a copy of the Chain of Contact document for your reference. Please keep it handy and use it whenever you need assistance. By working together in this way, we can ensure smooth communication and the best outcomes for our students.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Honeoye Wellness is Thriving

'Community Health' Magazine Highlights Goals for District Staff

August 19, 2025
Honeoye Wellness Activities for staff highlighted in 'Community Health' magazine
Honeoye Central School District does a lot of things well but the summer edition of Community Health magazine, a publication of Finger Lakes Area School Health Plan, confirms just how well wellness is done for staff and faculty.

The issue, which is dedicated to the “Power of Play” and features how area school districts are making time to “embrace health fun,” features Honeoye Superintendent Natalie Pfluke on page 4. In a letter to readers, Mrs. Pfluke explains how the Wellness Program at Honeoye, under the direction of Lorri Campbell is not just a suggestion. It’s a priority.

“Every hallway, classroom and gathering space is a chance to model what it looks like to prioritize mental, physical and emotional health. We don’t always get it perfect, but we strive to be visible and authentic in our efforts.”

On pages 16-17, an article with photos featured the March day in which Honeoye staff participated in its Afternoon of Wellness. In addition to lunch, staff had the opportunity to lead breakout sessions in the afternoon that included Zumba, jewelry making, badminton, table tennis, karaoke and self-defense instruction with local law enforcement.

And under the "Healthy Happenings" section that features additional wellness activities in area districts, the "Play With Clay" activity for Honeoye staff is featured.

“By empowering faculty and staff to lead and participate in wellness experiences, we’re reinforcing a message that wellness matters every day. Not just for adults, but for the students who watch and learn from us,” said Campbell, who teaches business education in the district.

This is why Wellness is a priority at Honeoye. Because as Campbell said in the article: “Every investment we make in our people is ultimately an investment in our kids.”

HCS Playground: Community Build Informational Meeting, August 20

Posted Date: 8/05/25 (5:12 PM)

Dear HCS Families and Community Members,

We've heard your thoughts and suggestions about a community build, and we couldn’t be more excited to present this opportunity. We’re currently exploring creating a custom, all-inclusive playground and we want to hear from you.  On Wednesday, August 20th, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, we’re hosting an informational meeting to share what this project could look like and to gauge community interest in bringing it to life.  A key part of this vision is that a portion of the playground would be built by community volunteers- similar to the way our current playground was built in the 90's.

The design would be guided by Play by Design, a group of Certified Playground Safety Inspectors known for creating safe, creative, and inclusive play spaces built with the help of community members.

At the meeting, we’ll discuss:

  • The concept and goals for the project

  • What makes a community-built playground special

  • The level of volunteer support and leadership needed to move forward

  • How to get involved if the project moves ahead

We can only move forward if there’s enough interest and support from the community, so your voice matters! We hope you’ll join us to learn more, ask questions, and help shape the next chapter of play in Honeoye. Everyone is welcome!

Thank you,
Natalie Pfluke, Superintendent

Student/Family/Staff Survey: District's development of "Distraction Free" smart device use policy

Posted Date: 7/07/25 (8:16 PM)

Good evening HCS Students, Families and Staff,

I hope everyone had a safe and joyful Fourth of July weekend with family and friends. I am writing regarding the new state-mandated cell phone policy that will go into effect in all New York State public schools beginning this fall. As communicated on June 10, starting in September, students will no longer be permitted to use personal cell phones during instructional hours, including in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and other school spaces.

This policy is part of a statewide effort to support safe, focused learning environments and to promote social-emotional wellness and stronger relationships among students and staff. In compliance with this law, the Honeoye Board of Education must adopt a policy and regulations regarding the use of personal smart devices (e.g., smartphones, smartwatches, tablets) during the school day.

Under this new law, students must:

  • Refrain from using personal electronic devices anywhere on school grounds during the school day, unless explicitly authorized for educational purposes by a staff member.

  • Store their personal devices as directed by school staff for the duration of the school day.

We are committed to making sure students, families, and staff understand the policy and have a voice in how it is implemented locally. To that end, we are offering two ways for you to get involved and share your thoughts:

  1. Complete this short, anonymous survey to help us understand the community’s awareness, expectations, and priorities as we develop our policy.

  2. Join us in person for a conversation on Thursday, July 10 at 6:00 PM in the school’s LGI.

Your input will help guide us as we work toward a policy that reflects both the state’s requirements and our school-community’s values. Thank you for your partnership and support as we work together to create the best possible environment for our students.

Natalie Pfluke

Superintendent
